Our Story
La Grange Cotton Gin opened in November 2017, but the idea had been years in the making. For over two decades, I traveled with my closest friends to towns near and far—browsing boutiques, antique stores, and galleries, all while laughing, shopping, and dreaming. My daughter Ginger was always along for the ride, and from the time she was little, it was clear she had an eye for fashion. My mother once said, “If she spent 20 minutes getting her lace socks just right, you were in trouble.” She was right.
Over the years, Ginger and I talked often about opening a shop of our own—a blend of our favorite things. We imagined a space where people could find home décor, unique gifts, and maybe a few surprises. When we opened, that’s exactly what it was. Then something wonderful happened—our customers started asking for clothing. Ginger stepped in, and the Cotton Gin started to evolve into the boutique it is today.
We’ve grown by listening to the people who walk through our doors. Whether they’re looking for cozy home accents, the perfect outfit, or just browsing with their pups (yes, Poppy and Ruby are regulars), we want every customer to feel at home here.
Working side-by-side as a mother-daughter team has its moments—we’re honest, we laugh a lot, and we each bring something different to the table. Ginger has an incredible eye for trends, while I’m the crafter who adds glitter, bows, and a bit of whimsy to every season.
Through the highs and lows—including a pandemic that pushed us to start live sales and reach people in new ways—we’ve stayed grounded in faith and community. We’re constantly redecorating, refreshing, and looking for ways to grow. We’re especially excited to begin offering online shopping soon.
If you’ve shopped with us before, you’re part of our story. And if you’re just finding us—we can’t wait to welcome you to the Cotton Gin family.
